Game 53 Recap

Tigers 5 Indians 11

Justin Verlander couldn't have picked a more inopportune time to have his worst outing of the season. The Tigers got 5 runs on 10 hits off of Cleveland starter C.C. Sabathia, but Justin Verlander surrendered 7 runs on 8 hits to take the loss tonight. What makes this loss so strange is that Verlander had only surrendered 10 runs for the entire month of May entering this game. The Tigers offense fared pretty well considering Neifi Perez was starting and Gary Sheffield was tossed in the fifth. Right now with all the injuries, I just would like the Tigers to play .500 ball and be ready to make a run when the team has everyone healthy (fingers crossed) around the end of June.

Tiger Hero:
Marcus Thames. Regular playing time seems to be the cure to the hitting woes he showed up until recently. He was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI tonight.

Tiger Zero:
Jose Mesa. I try not to be too negative, and will give people second chances. Heck I even consider myself a Todd Jones fan. But Jose has to go.

Tigers Record
W - L
30 - 23
2nd Place AL Central (3.5 GB Cleveland)
